Fala como cá.
Portuguese from Portugal, that you'll actually speak.
Conversa is an AI conversation tutor and pronunciation coach for European Portuguese, on iPhone and iPad. Talk your way through real situations — the café, the farmácia, the taxi — with a tutor that speaks the Portuguese people actually speak in Portugal.
In development — coming soonTwo ways to practise
No flashcards, no streaks, no grammar drills. Just the part every other app skips: speaking.
Conversas
Chat by voice or text with an AI tutor — casual talk, role-plays, debates, or your own topic. Pick a persona and a level (A1–C2), choose how you want to be corrected, and get a feedback report at the end. Então, vamos falar?
Pronúncia
Shadow real pt-PT phrases: hear a native-quality voice, record yourself, and get accuracy and fluency scores word by word. The app keeps track of the sounds that trip you up.
Authentically pt-PT
Every tutor reply is checked against a European-Portuguese lint before you see it. Three pt-PT voices — Raquel, Duarte and Fernanda — and a phrase library of nearly 3,000 sentences from Portugal.
Private by design
No account, no sign-up, no servers of ours. Conversa runs on your own OpenAI and Azure Speech keys, stored in your device's Keychain. Your practice stays on your device.
Never Brazilian by accident
Most "Portuguese" apps teach Brazilian Portuguese with a European label on it. Conversa is pt-PT only — and it enforces it. AI models drift toward Brazilian; Conversa checks every reply for the markers and regenerates rather than let one through.

Bring your own keys
There's no subscription and no middleman. You plug in your own OpenAI key (for the tutor) and Azure Speech key (for voices and pronunciation scoring) — typical personal use costs a few euros a month, paid directly to those providers. See Support for how to set them up, and the privacy policy for exactly where your data goes.
